What to Do
Endless beaches, timeless ruins, welcoming locals, rolling surf, and flavorful food, Sri Lanka is irresistible. We chose December for our wedding because that’s when the south coast is at its best: wide beaches, sunny skies, lighter waves, and a joyful mood. Whether you're here for the wedding or staying on for a few extra days, we’ve gathered some of our favourite ways to experience this tropical paradise.
Watch this space for updates on the week before for places we will be relaxing and enjoying along the south coast!
Eat & Drink
Sri Lankan cuisine is a celebration of fresh spices and coastal bounty, expect fragrant curries, chopped kottu roti, and gorgeous seafood by the water. We especially recommend trying a traditional rice & curry at a local café, enjoying street-style kottu, and savoring freshly grilled fish paired with a cold beer or strong espresso at an oceanfront spot.
PLAY
Whether you're a beginner or seasoned surfer, Sri Lanka’s southern coast has you covered. Weligama is ideal for first timers, while nearby Ahangama (Kabalana) offers world-class reef breaks for more confident riders. Private lessons are available at both spots.
